At the annual World Water Week summit in Sweden, the GHP formally established Global Handwashing Day. Founding committee members of the Global Handwashing Partnership included Colgate-Palmolive, Procter  Gamble, Unilever, USAID, The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and UNICEF.
